For renters

Nearly all government rebates and energy and water saving devices are only available or suitable to home owners. With nearly half of the Australian population renting their home, Habitat Hardware have realise that renters want to save the planet and money as well!

Throughout the Habitat Hardware web site you will see the renters logo next to products, rebates and ideas that have been used by people who rent their home.

Below are a number of products and rebates that renters have purchased to improve the efficiency of their home.

Products

Insulation - Rental properties rarely have insulation in the roof, especially older properties. Unfortunately this means hotter homes in summer and colder homes in winter for tenants. Our foil insulation can easily be 'rolled out' in the roof of any home and then 'rolled up' when you leave. At a cost of only $9 per square metre this is a great way to reduce your energy bill and have a much more liveable home!

Water saving shower heads - A high quality water saving shower head is a great way to save energy and water. They are easy to install and can be removed just as easily when you leave the house. By purchasing a water saving shower head you may be entitled to a energy or water saving rebate from the state government and/or your local council.

Repaint dark rooms - painting a room in a light colour can significantly improve the amount of light in a room. A lighter room means that the lights don't have to be on so long. It also makes a small room look larger! Ask your landlord if you can paint the walls and ceiling in your home. We recomend and use Eco Style paints which do not offgas resulting in a much healthier indoor air quality.

Photovolatic Solat Electric Systems - while the federal government PVRP rebates are only available to homeowners who live in their own home. The RECs generated from the system and the Habitat Hardware Good Neighbour Rebate do not have these restrictions. With approval from your landlord to install the photovoltaic system you will still be eligible for these rebates. With enough Good Neighbour Rebates it is possible to receive a free photovoltaic solar electricity system for your home.

Rebates

Although most government rebates are only available to homeowners who live in their home, there are a number of rebates that are available to renters. Go to our rebates page to see what you might be eligbile for.
