solar electricity panels

Photovoltaic Solar Power Systems

For an investment of only $ 3,490 (after rebates) you can generate your own electricity and also generate a financial return in excess of 27% per annum. Investing in a Kyocera photovoltaic system has never been more cost-effective.

With generous government rebates, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), Habitat Hardware's Good Neighbour Rebate and attractive financing options, photovoltaic (PV) systems are now remarkably affordable.

Rebates and discounts

There are a number of rebates and discounts available which are designed to encourage the uptake of solar power systems. The available rebates include:

The Federal Government's Photovoltaic Rebate Program which provides up to an $8000 cash rebate which is paid to you upon the successful installation and commissioning of your new photovoltaic system.

Renewable Energy Certificates (REC's) - We will sell your RECs for you and put the proceeds towards the cost of your PV system. (See the home page for current REC's trading price.)

Good Neighbour Rebate - Habitat Hardware offer an additional rebate to encourage neighbourhoods to work together to increase the uptake of solar power. The resulting reduction in freight and installation costs are shared with customers through a Good Neighbour Rebate.

goGreen® Home Improvement Loan - Habitat Hardware photovoltaic systems qualify for MECU credit union's goGreen® Home Improvement Loan. Subject to normal bank lending criteria this loan provides a very attractive financing option. For more information go to MECU Credit union's web site or call them on 132 888.

Pricing

Due to an established relationship and being a volume buyer of photovoltaic systems Habitat Hardware is able to negotiate directly with the manufacturer to achieve extremely competitive pricing which is shared with our customers.

Our Preferred Supplier

The SALA Group have been installing photovoltaic (PV) systems since 2002 and have tried a number of different systems. We have found the Kyocera systems to be of the best quality and value for money. They also offer the best customer service and are the most environmentally responsible of any of the manufacturers that we have dealt with.

Kyocera has been at the forefront of PV research and manufacture for 30+ years and is one of the world's largest manufacturers of PV panels.

To use the words of one of our experienced installers, Habitat Hardware has been able to obtain the ‘Rolls Royce of PV systems at the price of a Hyundai'. Kyocera really is the Rolls Royce of PV systems and for that quality you do pay a little more. We feel that the extra cost is well worth the peace of mind, knowing that you have one of the most efficient and reliable systems that money can buy with the backing of one of the worlds leading manufacturers and distributors of PV systems behind you.

As the old saying goes….'you really do get what you pay for!'.

With Kyocera and generous rebates you really are getting the best of both worlds.

Installation

Habitat Hardware has a team of experienced photovoltaic system contractors ready to install your system.

It can take up to 8 weeks for the federal government to preapprove systems, however, once preapproval has been received we can have your systems installed and saving you money within weeks. Once you receive your preapproval we will be able to provide you with an approximate installation day.

Our installers provide a 2 year warranty on their workmanship

Warrantees

Kyocera offer a 20 year warranty on their PV panels. In this warranty they specify that after 20 years the output from your PV panels will not be less than 80% of the stated output when the system was purchased. Many cheaper systems cannot guarantee this.

A 5 year warranty comes with the inverters and frames.

As with any warranty, it is only as good as the company behind it. Kyocera Corporation is a global company which was established in Japan in 1959 and has been working with PV systems since 1975. It has stood the test of time and is a recognised leader in the PV field.

A recent manufacturing glitch demonstrated the length to which Kyocera will go to satisfy their customers and protect their outstanding reputation. Kyocera had been working on a new manufacturing technique which was to reduce the lead content of the circuitry used in the panels, however after the new technology had gone to market a number of failures occurred. Kyocera replaced all failed panels with no questions asked. They then developed the technology to remanufacture the panels – stripping the circuitry and silicon cells out of the failed panels and remanufacturing them. It is this remanufacturing technology which gives Kyocera the unique ability to reuse old panels – now that is sustainable!

How does a photovoltaic system work?

The Australian Greenhouse Office's Your Home technical manual provides an excellent insight into the different types of photovoltaic systems and an explanation of how they work. Rather than us trying to explain it here, we suggest that you visit their website for an objective overview of PV systems.

If you have any other questions about the operation of a PV system please feel free to contact one of the Habitat Hardware team and they will happily answer your questions.

If you are interested in reducing your energy consumption you may be interested in these great energy and water saving devices as well

Water saving shower heads –

Habitat Hardware recommends and uses the Eco Shower range of shower roses.

In keeping with Habitat Hardware’s product selection policy the Eco Shower range of shower heads are a locally produced (NSW and QLD), high quality shower rose with a 30 year guarantee and a market leading flow rate of 7.5 litres per minute. Conventional water saving showers restrict the flow of water, however Eco Shower uses a patented system where air is passively drawn into the shower head to modify and improve the delivery of water.  This high efficiency range of shower heads deliver significant energy and water savings to homeowners.
